Authorities in La Romana coordinate actions for the 2026 Holy Week operation

La Romana.- In a joint effort that integrates the Provincial Government, Civil Defense, and the rest of the security and rescue organizations, the strategic actions that make up the "Easter Week Operation 2026" were announced today. This national plan seeks to guarantee the physical integrity of the thousands of vacationers who choose this province as a destination during Holy Week. The coordination between all state authorities has enabled the deployment of a robust response platform, validated by the Provincial Health Directorate and the institutions of citizen security. The main objective is the prevention of incidents and immediate assistance at the points of greatest tourist and road influx. Operational Capacity and Personnel Deployment
As part of this inter-institutional collaboration, a team of 100 specialized members has been made available to operate under a unified command structure. The distribution of personnel has been organized as follows:

Strategic Checkpoints: Six key positions have been established, highlighting the presence of 25 members at the La Romana Toll Booth, 20 at Playa Caleta, 20 at Playa Bayahibe, and 20 at Playa Dominicus, in addition to the units in Guaymate and the operations base. Specialized Human Resources: The operation will have the direct supervision of general and on-site commanders, supported by a technical body of 24 experts in medical emergencies, 12 lifeguards, 52 assistants and medical and transport personnel.

Preventive Closure of Spas and Beaches

In agreement with all participating authorities, the closure of six spas and beaches identified as high-risk areas for the population has been determined. This measure is mandatory and seeks to avoid fatalities due to dangerous natural conditions:
  • Caleta Beach (West): Closed due to dangerous currents that have previously claimed lives.
  • Dulce River and La Represa: Due to the presence of rocks, dangerous jumps and strong currents unknown to bathers.
  • Boquerón: Isolated area with strong waves that drag out to sea.
  • Cumayasa River: Due to its great depth and rocky terrain in remote areas.
  • La Playita de Chavón River: Due to the turbidity of the water, sudden floods and the poor condition of the access roads.
The authorities, led by the Provincial Government and rescue organizations, strongly urge prudence and respect for the signage. "This operation is the result of coordination among all authorities to protect you; we ask the population to collaborate by respecting the restricted areas and the instructions of our personnel," they stated during the presentation of the plan.
