San Juan de la Maguana. — National Police agents, assigned to the Central Investigation Directorate (DICRIM), arrested two men in the act of committing a crime and recovered five animals that had been stolen in the municipality of Juan de Herrera, San Juan province.
The detainees were identified as Rosendo Mesa Mateo, alias “Medina”, 39 years old, and José Manuel Méndez de los Santos, alias “Papito”, 46, who were arrested after a follow-up on a report of cattle theft. During the operation, the authorities seized a total of five cattle —two cows, a bull, and two heifers— of different colors, which belong to Mr. Raúl Cepeda Herrera and Mr. César Suberbí, on an agricultural property of the first of the detainees. Both the detainees and the recovered animals are in custody at the Western Regional Directorate, where the corresponding procedures for their return to their owners are being carried out.
