Santo Domingo. – The Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (Minerd) announced on the night of this Monday the suspension of classes for this Tuesday throughout the province of Puerto Plata, after being declared on red alert by the Emergency Operations Center (COE), due to the rains associated with a trough affecting the national territory.
The institution explained that the decision was made in coordination with the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) and the COE, with the aim of safeguarding the integrity of students, teachers, and administrative staff in the face of the risk of flooding and other eventualities. In that sense, the Minerd instructed regional, district, and educational center directors to apply preventive measures in the provinces under yellow alert, especially in those areas identified as vulnerable.
