Santo Domingo Norte.– Community members from the Marañón 2 sector, in Villa Mella, near Avenida Jacobo Majluta, denounced a situation of insecurity, noise pollution, and road deterioration caused by the presence of heavy trucks and the installation of an illegal workshop in a residential area.

According to the complainants, in the area located behind the sector known as Liverpool, truckers operate who have turned the streets into improvised parking lots and repair spaces, affecting the tranquility of the residents. "Here there are families who bought thinking it was a quiet place, but this is unbearable. Every night trucks arrive, make noise, occupy the entrances and respect nothing," expressed a community member. The neighbors claim that, in addition to the constant noise, the heavy vehicles have deteriorated the asphalt and obstruct traffic. Added to this is a growing wave of crime which, they explain, is facilitated by the presence of the trucks. "The criminals hide there, steal engines, rearview mirrors and enter the residential areas in the early hours of the morning," they indicated. We recommend reading: One of the most concerning aspects is that, according to reports, some truckers have reacted violently to complaints, even going so far as to threaten residents with firearms. The affected parties claim that they have already brought the situation before the City Council of Santo Domingo Norte, but so far they have not received an effective response. They also denounce the lack of police patrols in the area. "The workshop is in an invaded area and operates illegally, but nobody does anything. We are tired and need the authorities to intervene," they stated. The community members called on the municipal authorities and the National Police of the Dominican Republic to act, restore order, and guarantee security in this sector which, they insist, was conceived as residential.
