Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Republic's National Meteorological Office (INDOMET) reported that temperatures will remain quite hot this weekend, while a dust cloud from the Sahara affects the national territory, generating a hazy environment and reducing visibility in some areas. According to the weather bulletin issued this Saturday, a high-pressure system keeps the moisture content limited over the country, favoring mostly sunny conditions and scarce rainfall in a large part of the territory. However, isolated showers accompanied by possible thunderstorms could be recorded during the afternoon in provinces such as Hato Mayor, La Vega, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Independencia and Baoruco, due to daytime heating. The meteorological authorities indicated that the maximum temperatures will range between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimums will remain between 22 and 24 degrees in much of the country. They also warned that the concentration of Saharan dust will continue to affect the territory for the next 24 to 72 hours, so they recommended that people sensitive to suspended particles follow the corresponding health guidelines.

In Greater Santo Domingo, a sky with scattered clouds and a hot environment is expected throughout the period. For this Sunday, the conditions will remain similar, although a trough located north of the country could favor the occurrence of isolated showers and thunderstorms in some inland provinces. INDOMET urged the population to stay well hydrated, wear light-colored clothing, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and stay in cool and ventilated places to reduce the effects of high temperatures.
