MIVHED performs technical inspection at the La Fiesta Hall of the Jaragua Hotel

Santo Domingo. – The Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED), through its Private Works Supervision Department, carried out an inspection visit to the facilities of the Salón la Fiesta of the Hotel Jaragua, to verify the condition of that structure.

This survey responds to a complaint about a leak in the ceiling of the hall, specifically in the stage area, where large-scale events are held.

During the survey, the technicians from MIVHED reviewed the condition of the roof in two areas: the area located above the stage and the area corresponding to the roof above the main hall of the event room. In both areas, water accumulations were identified, apparently associated with a waterproofing system with some deterioration and areas of the roof that do not have the appropriate slope for drainage at those points. Also, during the inspection, elements installed on the roof corresponding to the stage area were identified, so it was recommended to carry out a technical review of the structural calculation to confirm that the roof design adequately considers the loads associated with this equipment. The Private Works Supervision Department is sending the establishment a detailed technical report with the corresponding observations and recommendations for the adoption of the appropriate measures. This inspection is part of the work carried out by MIVHED to supervise buildings and public or private spaces where mass gatherings are held, in order to ensure that they operate under appropriate and safe conditions. About the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings The Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED), created by Law No. 160-21, has the mission of planning, regulating and supervising public and private buildings in the country, as well as developing housing and habitat improvement policies that promote safer, more organized and resilient communities.
