Washington. – Conservative commentator and activist Charlie Kirk, a recognized ally of U.S. President Donald Trump, was assassinated this Wednesday after being shot in the neck while participating in an event at a university in the state of Utah.
The news was confirmed by the president himself through the Truth Social network. “The great, and even legendary, Charlie Kirk has passed away,” wrote Trump, lamenting the loss of one of the most influential voices of the conservative movement in the country.
Kirk, 30 years old, was the founder and director of the youth organization Turning Point USA, a platform that promoted the participation of young people in politics with an approach close to Republican positions. In recent years, he had consolidated as a regular face in the media and political scenarios, strongly defending the conservative agenda.
Utah authorities reported that they are investigating the circumstances of the attack and have not yet offered details about the attacker or the motives surrounding the event.
The assassination has generated shock in political and social sectors of the United States, where Kirk was seen as one of the emerging figures of conservatism and an active collaborator in the Trump campaign.
