DASAC assists families affected by floods in four provinces

Santo Domingo. -Teams from the Directorate of Social Assistance and Community Food (DASAC), are directly assisting each of the families affected by the heavy rains that are being recorded in several provinces of the country.

Following the activation of the Emergency Committee, the director of this institution, Edgar Augusto Feliz Arbona, arranged for the sending of mobile kitchens and other supplies to the provinces of Puerto Plata, Espaillat, María Trinidad Sánchez and Samaná, to guarantee immediate food assistance to the affected families.

To coordinate the assistance actions, the subdirectors Francisco García; Gerardo Vásquez Gómez; José Perdomo and José Acosta were sent to each of the areas impacted by the heavy downpours.

In addition, the deputy director, Francisco Moreta, was instructed to follow up on the shipment of mobile kitchens, while from the central headquarters the logistics are directed by the deputy director Luz Estrella, maintaining permanent communication with the governors and other authorities of the demarcations impacted by the rains.

Happy Arbona reported that once the waters recede and the corresponding surveys are carried out, DASAC will activate the second stage of the emergency protocol, by order of President Luis Abinader, which includes assisting with the distribution of raw food rations, the delivery of household goods and the repair of roofs to affected families.

He indicated that the institution remains in permanent session, monitoring the situation in coordination with the Emergency Operations Center, in order to continue providing timely assistance to the affected families.
