Santo Domingo.– The Caribbean Division of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) recognized the leadership of President Luis Abinader and the commitment of the Dominican Government in the fight against drug trafficking and transnational organized crime in the Caribbean region.
The recognition was announced after a meeting between DEA Administrator Terrance Cole and the president of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), José M. Cabrera, where they discussed issues related to regional security and international cooperation. Through a statement, the DEA valued the support of the Government headed by Abinader for the joint strategies aimed at combating criminal networks linked to drug trafficking and other transnational crimes. During the meeting, both parties discussed mechanisms to strengthen intelligence sharing, expand operational coordination, and develop new investigation and prosecution tactics against organized crime structures operating in the Caribbean and the Western Hemisphere.
