Industrialists react to the President's speech by proposing dialogue on public spending

Faced with the current crisis generated by the war in Iran and following the speech given by President Luis Abinader last Sunday, the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) recommended to the Government the immediate activation of a permanent space for consultation between the Government and the industrial sector.

"In that same scenario, to guarantee the fiscal sustainability that the president rightly highlights, the conversation must include, in a cross-cutting manner, an eventual discussion about public spending," the industrialists stated.

That space would also serve to exchange impressions on any factor that coyunturally affects the prices of raw materials and production factors such as energy costs, freight, transportation, among others.

Additionally, the AIRD said it took note of the call to promote remote work.

"We recognize that remote work is a model that can be implemented when possible, provided that the productive activity or the characteristics of the industries allow it," said Mario Pujols, executive vice president of AIRD.

The AIRD reaffirms its commitment to continue working in an articulated manner with the authorities and the different productive sectors, in the search for solutions that contribute to preserving economic stability, ensuring the well-being of the population and guaranteeing the sustainable development of the country.
