Leonel Fernández: “Artificial intelligence will radically transform healthcare”

Santiago.- The former president of the Republic, Leonel Fernández, stated this Tuesday that artificial intelligence will mark a profound transformation in the health system, highlighting that it is no longer enough to guarantee access, but that the challenge now is to offer quality and trust supported by technology. During the international forum The Future of Health: Data, Artificial Intelligence and Medicine”, held in Santiago, Fernández stated that the world is experiencing an accelerated evolution in the health field driven by technological advances. "Today is a day of reflection on these issues, the health sector is being impacted by technological evolution, robotic surgeries already exist, but the next step will be with artificial intelligence, which represents a higher stage," he expressed. The also president of Funglode indicated that this meeting brings together experts, researchers and professionals from the medical and technological area with the aim of rethinking the future of public health in the Dominican Republic.

Likewise, the president of the Fuerrza del Pueblo Party, Fernández, emphasized that the use of artificial intelligence, along with the management of large databases, will allow a radical transformation of the health service, raising the levels of efficiency, precision, and trust in medical care. Fernández issued the statements after arriving at the forum, organized by Funglode and the Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago (HOMS), placing the city as a key stage to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the medicine of the future.
