Marlins prevail with Eury Pérez's gem and Agustín Ramírez's power, win fourth consecutive series

MIAMI — With a standout pitching performance by Dominican Eury Pérez and the timely power of his compatriot Agustín Ramírez, the Miami Marlins defeated the Minnesota Twins 4-1 this Thursday at loanDepot park, thus securing their fourth consecutive series win, a feat they hadn't achieved since May 2024.

Pérez looked dominant for six scoreless innings, allowing only one hit, a double by Trevor Larnach in the fourth inning, and striking out seven batters with just one walk. It was his best outing since returning from Tommy John surgery, solidifying himself as a key piece in the Marlins' rotation. The offensive support came early. In the first inning, Xavier Edwards and Jesús Sánchez connected consecutive singles, and the Dominican-Canadian Otto López produced the first run with a groundout. Immediately afterwards, Agustín Ramírez took advantage of a high fastball from David Festa and sent it over the center-left field for a two-run home run that put the game 3-0.
Ramírez, who leads all Major League rookies with 13 home runs, is also tied for second in RBIs among debutants, with 35 RBIs. His hit was his first hit since the triple he hit on Sunday in Arizona, breaking a streak of 9 hitless at-bats. Sánchez produced again in the third inning with a "single-driving" that extended the lead to 4-0. The Twins' only damage came in the seventh inning, when Matt Wallner hit a solo home run against the left-hander Cade Gibson. Despite having lost Wednesday's game, the Marlins maintain a solid streak, and with this victory they reaffirmed their good collective moment, both from the mound and with the bat. The team continues to climb positions in the National League with balanced baseball and a young squad that responds.
