Movement Justice Jet Set requests equal treatment in judicial process

Santo Domingo. – The Jet Set Justice Movement sent a communication to Magistrate Raymundo Mejía in which it raises a series of requests aimed at guaranteeing equal treatment between plaintiffs and defendants within the ongoing judicial process. In the document, the organization demands that access to the Palace of Justice be carried out under the same criteria for all parties, without privileges or distinctions. In that sense, they point out that the accused Antonio and Maribel Espaillat, as well as their companions, must enter through the front door, complying with the established security controls. Furthermore, the movement requests that private security not be allowed into the courtroom, arguing that family members of victims have been denied access due to space limitations, and therefore they believe that the measure should be applied equitably.

Another of the concerns raised refers to security within the courthouse. The group denounced that during the hearing held on April 27th, Mr. José Luis Custodio was assaulted inside the Palace of Justice without, according to them, police officers intervening to protect him or follow up on the aggressor. The Jet Set Justice Movement maintained that these petitions are based on the principle of equality before the law, which establishes that all people must receive the same treatment from institutions and be subject to the same rules within a judicial process. The organization reiterated its call to the authorities to ensure an environment of respect, safety, and fairness for all parties involved.
