Santo Domingo Este.– The Public Ministry requested preventive detention against Eric Daulin Urbáez Farcón, alias “Wisin”, accused of causing the death of his sentimental partner in an event that occurred in the Villa Duarte sector.
The coercive measure will be known this Saturday, May 9, by the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of Santo Domingo Este. According to the indictment, the victim, Diana Elena Evangelista, 18 years old, died on the morning of May 3rd inside the house where the defendant resided, with whom she had been in a relationship for three years. Authorities indicate that the young woman died from injuries caused by a bladed weapon. After the incident, the accused's family members found him with injuries to both wrists and neck, so he was taken to a health center before being arrested. The body's recovery established that the victim presented a cut-penetrating wound on the left side of the face, in addition to external bleeding and cerebral anoxia, according to the official report. The Public Ministry classified the case as a violation of several articles of the Dominican Penal Code and Law 631-16 on Weapons, Ammunition and Related Materials. The coercion request is supported by documentary and testimonial evidence that, according to the authorities, directly links Urbáez Farcón to the crime and demonstrates a risk of flight due to the seriousness of the events. The case has generated consternation among residents of Villa Duarte and rekindles concern about the gender-based violence recorded in the country.
