The salaries of nursing assistants increased in August 2025 to RD$40,370.00, with a projected salary of RD$42,388.50 for January 2026, and in the case of licensed nurses, the salary increased to RD$49,885.00, with a projection of RD$52,379.25 in January 2026, according to the most recent increases applied by the National Health System (SNS).

The SNS highlighted these advances as part of the dignification of nursing staff during the administration of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader.

Mario Lama, director of the National Health Service, reported that between August 2020 and August 2025, a total of 6,247 new nurses entered the system, of which 3,932 are assistants and 2,315 are licensed nurses, significantly strengthening the capacity of care in the hospitals of the Public Network.

Also, from January 2021 to August 2025, 960 reclassifications of nursing assistants to licensed nurses were carried out, guaranteeing greater opportunities for professional growth.

The director of the SNS, Dr. Mario Lama, stated that these achievements respond to the government's commitment to the dignification of nurses: "Nursing is the backbone of the health system and, for the first time in decades, a sustained process of salary improvements, job stability, and massive incorporation of personnel has been promoted. This progress is the result of the vision of President Luis Abinader, who has prioritized human resources as the central axis of the health transformation."

He highlighted that these actions have directly impacted the quality of services received by patients throughout the Public Network. "Today we have more nurses in hospitals, better prepared, better paid, and with more stability. That means greater responsiveness, more humanization, and a more dignified health service for the Dominican population," he pointed out.

With these measures, the SNS reaffirms its commitment to continue strengthening nursing and dignifying the healthcare personnel who support the care of millions of Dominicans throughout the national territory.
