The Spanish government confirmed that it evacuated with success the ambassador and essential staff from its embassy in Tehran, amid the growing military tension in the Middle East following the attacks against Iran. The announcement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, who reported via social media that the operation was completed without incident. The official stressed that the safety of Spanish citizens and diplomatic staff is the government's priority. As Albares explained, diplomatic staff left the Iranian capital crossing the border into Azerbaijan, as part of the evacuation plan prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the face of the deteriorating situation in the region. The Spanish government also indicated that the rest of the Spanish embassies in the region remain operational 24 hours a day, assisting citizens through emergency telephones and consular assistance systems.

The evacuation takes place in a context of strong escalation in the Middle East following attacks and counterattacks between the United States, Israel, and Iran, a conflict that has also caused tensions in neighboring countries such as Lebanon. Faced with this situation, the Spanish Executive reiterated its call to de-escalate the conflict and resume diplomatic dialogue, while keeping protection protocols active for Spanish citizens in the region.
