Students from the Cristo Rey Educational Center must be relocated due to delays in classroom construction

Santo Domingo.- A few months before the end of the 2025-2026 school year, dozens of parents from the Cristo Rey Salesiana Educational Center are looking for places in other schools so that their children can continue secondary school due to the slowness of the construction of the pavilion that will house more than 300 high school students. According to data provided by the educational direction, in February, parents and students who will be in the third year of secondary school must look for other schools due to the imminent lack of classrooms. The construction of the building is more than 40 percent behind schedule, as well as due to the presence of few workers on the site. Due to this situation, the authorities of the aforementioned educational center delivered the respective documents so that they can guarantee enrollment in schools such as the Instituto Politécnico Profesor Víctor Rafael Estrella Liz (La Perito), Arts and Crafts, Cardenal Sánchez, Los Ángeles Custodios, among others.

Parents of the students called on the director of School Infrastructure, engineer Roberto Herrera, in order to expedite the work, ya because due to the slowness of the construction, dozens of boys and girls will again have to go to other schools and others will be left out of the Cristo Rey Educational Center due to lack of classrooms. Due to the situation, from the 2024-2025 school year to date, the students' parents had to divide some classrooms and use the assembly hall, as well as the computer center, to teach first and second-year secondary students, given the unfulfilled promise of the completion of the building that will house the high school students.
