Santo Domingo. - According to the Dominican Republic's National Meteorological Office (INDOMET), a large part of the country is waking up with skies ranging from isolated to scattered clouds, however, some morning showers are expected towards the coastal area of María Trinidad Sánchez, Hato Mayor, San Cristóbal, Santo Domingo and Samaná.

In the afternoon, due to the passage of a new tropical wave, the interaction of the wind with the orography and the incidence of a trough will increase cloudiness towards localities of Hato Mayor, El Seibo, Duarte, Hermanas Mirabal, Espaillat, the north of Azua, San Juan, Santiago Rodríguez, Santiago south, Monte Cristi and Dajabón where local showers are expected, which may be moderate at times with electrical storms and wind gusts until nightfall. The rest of the country will remain with a partly cloudy sky and slightly opaque due to the incidence of Saharan dust.

Summer is the time of year when temperatures are hottest, in this sense from INDOMET we urge the population to drink enough fluids to maintain hydration, wear light-colored clothing, seek cool and ventilated places, avoid periods of greatest sun exposure without protection between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. In addition, keep in mind that children and the elderly are more susceptible to suffering the effects of these high temperatures.

Cyclonic activity in the Atlantic basin, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico:

A tropical wave is being monitored off the west coast of Africa with a low probability of cyclonic development over the next two days. However, conditions will become more favorable for gradual development in 7 days, with a 20% probability of cyclonic development.

Tomorrow, Friday, the Caribbean coast will have some morning showers. In the afternoon, mainly towards the northwestern provinces, the border area and the Central Mountain Range, clouds of great vertical development will generate, which will cause moderate to heavy showers at times, thunderstorms and wind gusts, due to the incidence of a trough at various levels of the troposphere; especially over locations in La Vega, Santiago, Valverde, Dajabón, Santiago Rodríguez, the north of San Juan, Elías Piña and the mountainous area of Puerto Plata. These precipitations will be more local and less frequent and intense towards the southeast and will decrease noticeably during the night.

National District: Cloudy increases with passing showers in the morning. Then, mostly clear and hot.

Santo Domingo Norte: Cloudy increases with passing showers in the morning. Then, mostly clear and hot.

Santo Domingo Este: Cloudy with passing showers in the morning. Then, mostly clear and hot.

Some morning showers… In the afternoon, downpours, thunderstorms and wind gusts towards provinces of the southeast, the Central Mountain Range and the northwest until the early hours of the night due to a tropical wave and local effects. Normal waves on both coasts of the country.

On Saturday, although we will have the incidence of the trough at various levels of the troposphere, the presence of an anticyclonic circulation and less humidity is also expected in some areas of the country. Due to this, only local showers with isolated thunderstorms and wind gusts are expected towards provinces in the southeast and the Central Mountain Range, around noon, which will extend towards the southwest, the border area and the north as the hours pass.
