This Monday, the rains continue due to the influence of a trough.

Santo Domingo. - According to the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET), this Monday the rains will continue due to the incidence of a trough, especially towards locations in provinces of the Caribbean coast.

In the afternoon, cloud cover increases are expected with local showers, moderate to heavy, thunderstorms and wind gusts towards El Seibo, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, sectors north of Santo Domingo, Sánchez Ramírez, Monseñor Nouel, San José de Ocoa, the north of Azua, Santiago south, San Juan, Santiago Rodríguez, Elías Piña, Dajabón, Valverde and Puerto Plata. These precipitations, associated with the incidence of a trough at several levels of the troposphere and local effects, will gradually decrease at nightfall.

Tomorrow Tuesday, during the morning, some showers are expected towards provinces in the southeast. In the afternoon, the interaction of the wind with the orography, the slight support of a trough at mid-tropospheric levels and local effects will intensify these precipitations as local downpours, from moderate to strong with electrical storms and wind gusts, extending towards provinces of the Central Mountain Range, the northwest and the border area, especially over Monte Plata, Monseñor Nouel, northern Azua, southern Santiago, Elías Piña, San Juan and Dajabón. The remaining provinces will have a sky of isolated to scattered clouds with occasional increases.

Due to the risk of urban flooding, meteorological alert levels are maintained for the following provinces:

Cyclonic activity in the Atlantic basin, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico:

Hurricane Gabrielle is located about 335 kilometers southeast of the Bermuda islands. It is moving north/northwest at about 17 km/h. Its maximum sustained winds remain at about 150 km/h with stronger gusts in its surroundings.
We are reporting a tropical wave located well west of the Cape Verde islands, in the central tropical Atlantic. It is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms and has a 60% probability of cyclonic development for the next 7 days.
We are also monitoring a tropical wave east of the Lesser Antilles. This has a 10% probability of cyclonic development during the next 2 days, while at 7 days, 30%.
Due to the geographical positions and expected trajectories, we are continuously monitoring these weather systems.

National District: Morning cloud increases with isolated showers. Then, mostly sunny.

Santo Domingo Norte: Morning cloud cover with isolated showers. In the afternoon, cloudy towards the north with local showers, distant thunderstorms and wind gusts.

Santo Domingo Este: Morning cloud cover increases with very isolated showers. In the afternoon, cloudy towards the north with local downpours, distant thunderstorms and wind gusts.

Santo Domingo Oeste: Morning cloud cover with isolated showers. In the afternoon, cloudy towards the north with local downpours, distant thunderstorms and wind gusts.

Temperatures: the minimum will be between 23 °C and 25 °C and the maximum between 33 °C and 35 °C.

On Wednesday, the approach of an active tropical wave and the incidence of a trough at various levels of the troposphere will be generating scattered showers from morning hours towards the southeast, including sectors of Santo Domingo, which in the afternoon hours will intensify as moderate to heavy downpours with thunderstorms and wind gusts and will move towards other provinces of the Central Mountain Range, the northeast, northwest and the border area.
