Santo Domingo. - The heartbreaking collapse of the Jet Set nightclub's roof on April 8th occurred in a chaotic and deadly manner, leaving more than 230 dead, hundreds injured, and multiple families and friends with broken hearts due to the loss of their relatives, in an event that shook the country and the world.

The horrendous April 8th marked the history of the Dominican Republic as one of the most tragic events and one that has most shocked the country.

In the marked black day, the Emergency Operations Center immediately activated its contingency protocol. The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, visited the scene of the disaster, expressed his condolences and described the event as "one of the biggest disasters in the recent history of the country".

Among the deceased were former Major League Baseball players Octavio Dotel and Tony Blanco (who died saving the life of former baseball player Esteban Germán), the governor of the province of Monte Cristi and sister of baseball player Nelson Cruz, Nelsy Cruz.

Among the deceased were fashion designer Martín Polanco, the director of urban infrastructure of the National District, Christian Alejandro Tejeda, along with his wife and daughter, and Luis Solís, known as "Chican," saxophonist of Rubby Pérez's musical ensemble.

The Popular Group confirmed in the early hours of April 9th, the death of several members of the Grullón family. Their identities are: Eduardo Grullón (president of AFP Popular and son of the founder of Grupo Popular Alejandro Grullón Espaillat); his wife Johanna Rodríguez, his sister Alexandra Grullón (project manager at Qik Banco Digital) and her husband, Eduardo Guarionex Estrella (deputy director of the National Housing Institute, INVI); who was the son of politician Eduardo Estrella, former president of the Dominican Senate and current Minister of Public Works. That same day, the authorities of the Dominican Republic confirmed the death of Rubby Pérez.

Among so many public figures, there were also humble people, employees of the nightclub, and people who simply took that day to enjoy what would be the big party with the Dominican artist Rubby Pérez. From that moment on, nothing was the same, as the pain in which they were submerged also unleashed outrage and hundreds of lawsuits.
