Santo Domingo. – The adoption of smart wallets is consolidating as a modern and safer alternative to traditional wallets, thanks to the incorporation of technological functions that offer alerts, real-time location and direct linking to the cell phone. These new designs allow the user to track their wallet from an app on their phone, whether Android or iPhone, making it easier to locate if lost. In addition, some of these wallets can emit a sound to aid in their recovery. Smart wallets also integrate technologies such as RFID blocking, which protects credit or debit cards against unauthorized scans and electronic fraud, without the need for manual intervention by the user.

Manufacturers have prioritized resistant and aesthetic materials, such as treated leather, carbon fiber, and aluminum alloys, achieving thinner, more durable, and easier-to-carry wallets. Another important feature is the long battery life of the tracking modules, which can last several years and be replaced, avoiding the rapid obsolescence of the product. These wallets work in conjunction with dedicated mobile applications, which allow not only to see the real-time location, but also to configure personalized alerts and security settings, extending their utility beyond the simple carrying of cards or cash.
