UASD recognizes engineer Leonardo Reyes Madera, director of Onesvie

Santo Domingo.- In the framework of National Engineer's Day, the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (FIA) of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), recognized engineer Leonardo Reyes Madera, general director of the National Office of Seismic Evaluation and Vulnerability of Infrastructure and Buildings (Onesvie), for his professional career and his contributions to the development of earthquake-resistant engineering in the Dominican Republic. During the ceremony, the UASD emphasized that the tribute to Reyes Madera responds to his leadership in the consolidation of technical standards of excellence, as well as his decisive contribution to the prevention and reduction of seismic vulnerability, ensuring safer and more resilient infrastructures. In his words of thanks, the director of Onesvie expressed his deep gratitude for the distinction, while reaffirming his commitment to ethical, responsible engineering aligned with sustainable development and disaster resilience.

He also highlighted the importance of the work carried out by Onesvie in the evaluation and strengthening of the structural safety of public and private buildings, as well as in the promotion of a preventive culture that guarantees the safety of people and the protection of the national heritage. In addition to the director of Onesvie, UASD recognized the career and contributions of outstanding engineering and architecture professionals, including: Ing. Amparo Céspedes (CIV), Ing. José Orlando Muñoz (AGM), Ing. Maldane Cuello (ARQ), Arq. Zulay Morales, Ing. Manuel Segura, Ing. Fabián Tello, Ing. Fabien Mariñez and Dr. Lidibert González. Also, special distinctions were awarded to professors Ing. Freddy Pérez, Ing. Leonardo Reyes Madera and Ing. Héctor O’Reilly, in recognition of their impact on the teaching and professional practice of engineering in the Dominican Republic.
