Santo Domingo, RD.– The National Police reported this Saturday on the arrest of a man identified as the alleged responsible for assaulting the vehicle in which a communicator of Uruguayan origin was traveling, in an event that generated widespread attention on social media.
The detainee was identified as Jhonatan Benítez, alias “Jhon”, 27 years old, who, according to investigations, allegedly protagonized the incident that occurred in the Luis Amiama Tió sector, in the National District. According to the preliminary report offered by the Central Investigation Directorate, the event originated in the self-service area of a banking entity, where a first contact occurred between the accused and the victim, the communicator Lourdes Leticia Rocha Carle. Authorities explained that, after that encounter, the individual would have followed the affected person's vehicle, generating a situation of tension that culminated in the aggression. According to the public complaint, the journalist was pursued by a motorcyclist who demanded money from her and, upon her refusal, threw a blunt object at the car, causing visible damage. During the interrogations, the detainee admitted to having thrown a stone at the vehicle, although he denied that his actions occurred under the circumstances reported by the victim.
