CONEP and Senate reactivate dialogue on key reforms for national development

Santo Domingo – The National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP) held a meeting this Monday with the President of the Senate, Ricardo de los Santos, with the purpose of resuming institutional dialogue and jointly analyzing fundamental legislative reforms for the sustainable development of the country.

During the meeting, the president of CONEP, Celso Juan Marranzini, thanked the Senate for its willingness to listen to and consider the concerns of the national productive sector.

Marranzini positively valued De los Santos' management at the head of the Senate, calling it efficient and consensus-oriented. "The confidence that the Dominican Republic projects in the international arena is essential to attract investments. For his part, the Senate president, Ricardo de los Santos, reaffirmed his commitment to dialogue and concertation, and highlighted that it is an opportune moment to reactivate the joint working table with the private sector. He indicated that this collaboration is key to debating and enriching bills such as the reform to social security, the Penal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code, the Water Law, the Labor Code, among others.

As part of this initiative, the organization of a parliamentary forum in coordination with CONEP was announced, which will bring together the main social, economic, and institutional actors of the country. The objective is to provide a space for technical and strategic analysis on the structural reforms necessary to guarantee political stability, social well-being, and economic growth.

Both parties agreed that this dialogue is vital to ensure that legislative transformations respond to the needs of the country and have a basis of legitimacy and consensus that favors their effective implementation.
