On April 8, 2025, the Dominican Republic experienced one of the most shocking tragedies in its history: the collapse of the roof of the Jet Set nightclub, which left a toll of 236 fatalities and more than 180 people injured. The fateful dawn, which began with an overflow of joy and effusiveness from the hundreds of people who gathered at the place to enjoy a long-awaited party of the legendary merengue singer Rubby Pérez, ended in pain, suffering and tragedy. The event left incurable wounds in the families of the victims and in the soul, mind and heart of the survivors, who, more than two months after the disaster, continue to be marked by the trauma. Well-known figures from the entertainment industry of the Dominican Republic managed to survive the tragedy. These are some of the voices that narrated to the world how surprising it was to witness the collapse.
