New York.- This Saturday begins the 2025 edition of the “Summer Streets” program in the Queens and Staten Island districts, an initiative that temporarily closes several roads to vehicular traffic for the exclusive use of pedestrians and cyclists.

The event, organized by the New York City Department of Transportation, seeks to facilitate recreational activities and non-motorized travel in different neighborhoods.

The selected streets will remain closed to automobile traffic during specific hours, allowing free access to residents and visitors. The program includes routes in commercial and residential areas, and will be extended over several weekends of the summer.
