New Delhi, India.- The General Director of Customs, Yayo Sanz Lovatón, and the Director of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) of the Republic of India, Surjit Bhujabal, signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement so that Authorized Economic Operators (AEOs) from both countries obtain the same trade advantages and customs facilities in all ports and airports of the two nations.

This, in order for Dominican exporters to enhance their commercial activities with this important market and, in turn, the country's relations with one of the most important economies in the world. For the materialization of this agreement, a Joint Action Plan of the OAS Programs was established, with a view to improving security for end-to-end supply chains and trade facilitation. Furthermore, direct contact channels were established through representatives from both Customs, a framework of close cooperation that includes the exchange of information on authorization criteria for AEO members and border clearance processes. Both Customs agreed, also, to conduct Joint Validation visits in the customs territories for the evaluation of the AEO program of the counterpart and to verify mutual compatibility. The director of the DGA was received at the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in New Delhi, capital of India, by the ambassador to the Republic of India, Francisco Compres, and the Minister Counselor, Fernando Chávez. The Dominican customs representative congratulated the work of the team led by Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez for all the efforts they achieved with the Indian government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Likewise, Sanz Lovatón toured the cargo area of New Delhi airport to verify the procedures for storing, receiving, and dispatching goods entering and leaving that country by air. All of this as part of the plan to consolidate the Dominican Republic as a world-class Logistics Hub. The Indian delegation was comprised of the Principal Commissioner of CBIC, Akhil Kumar Khatri, Principal Commissioner of the Directorate of International Customs, Anupam Prakash, the Additional Commissioner, Anurima Sharma, and the Joint Commissioners, Amit Kumar Gupta and Pradeep Kumar.
