MESCyT awards 114 international scholarships to students for master's degrees

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT) continues to promote academic excellence in the country, with the awarding of 114 international scholarships to the fifth group of students who will pursue master's degrees at 22 universities in 5 countries such as the United States, Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Sweden. Meritorious students received their scholarships to pursue master's degrees at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Broward International University, Caribbean International University, Concious Management Institute (CMI Business School), ENAE Business School - Escuela de Negocios y Administración de Empresas. Likewise, KTH Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Nebrija University, CTO Group, L'Istituto Europeo di Design (IED), Universidad a Distancia de Madrid (UDIMA), Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio, Universidad Santander, Polytechnic University of Cartagena and Universidad internacional Iberoamericana. García Fermín highlighted that educational policies have been implemented that have allowed thousands of Dominican youths to access training opportunities at prestigious universities globally, thus consolidating the academic and professional development of the country.

The official explained that the scholarship recipients come from different provinces of the country such as San Juan, Dajabón, Azua, Peravia, Barahona, San José de Ocoa, Duarte, La Romana, San Cristóbal, Santiago, Hermanas Mirabal, Espaillat, Puerto Plata and Gran Santo Domingo.

“Un aspecto notable de esta entrega de becas es el destacado liderazgo femenino: El 67.36 % de los beneficiarios son mujeres, manteniendo el promedio histórico. Este aumento no solo refleja el talento y la dedicación de las mujeres dominicanas, sino que también evidencia el impacto nuestras políticas inclusivas, que fomentan una mayor participación femenina en la educación superior”,

destacó García Fermín.
On his part, the head of the Department of International Scholarships, Staling Cordero, stated that international scholarships promote cultural and academic exchange between countries, which enriches the educational experience and promotes understanding and respect between different nations.
Cordero clarified that the Ministry is not only responsible for awarding scholarships, but rather for changing the lives of the scholarship recipients, their families, and the country.


“This access to quality education strengthens human capital, fostering innovation and competitiveness in key sectors of the economy. Upon their return, the scholarship recipients apply their experience to lead transformative projects, generate employment, and promote solutions to national challenges, directly contributing to the sustainable growth and social progress of the country,” said Cordero.
