Santo Domingo. - This Wednesday, the Dominican Republic is alerted of a very rainy event that will establish itself during the next 24 to 48 hours, due to the influence of 3 atmospheric phenomena: the forecast models predict a high potential for significant rainfall in a large part of the country during the next 5 days, this according to the weather expert, Jean Suriel. Similarly, some rainfall has been recorded today due to the influence of a trough accompanying the first cold front located north of the Caribbean region: after midday, precipitation and electrical discharges will increase due to marine humidity. The potential for flash flooding will increase later this afternoon and overnight because the trough will be strengthening: in addition, we will have the proximity of tropical wave number 46, which will increase wind gusts.

For tomorrow, Thursday, the chances of significant showers will be greater in a large part of the Dominican Republic: the potential for more important floods will increase in the afternoon due to the indirect effects of the frontal system, the permanence of the trough and the transit of the wave to the south of the region. On Friday, the remnants of the tropical wave will continue, in combination with the trough, bringing more rainy periods: the risk of flash floods will continue in much of the Dominican Republic; wind gusts will also be recorded. Over the weekend, the trough will persist in the country, so moderate to heavy rains will continue with the potential for more flooding. Also, for Monday there is a forecast of precipitation in the afternoon. Let's be very attentive to the evolution of these phenomena in the coming days and not expose ourselves to danger; let's avoid high-risk situations.
