Man found dead in advanced state of decomposition in Santiago apartment

Santiago. – A 57-year-old man, identified as Franklin Hidalgo, was found dead in an advanced state of decomposition inside the apartment where he resided, located on the second level of a building on Juana Saltitopa street, in the Ensanche Bolívar sector of this city. According to versions offered by neighbors, Hidalgo had not been seen since last Saturday, a situation that generated concern among the residents of the area. It was on the afternoon of this Wednesday when, upon perceiving a strong odor and the presence of flies coming out of the building, they decided to alert the authorities and force the door of the apartment, finding the lifeless body inside. Ramón Rodríguez, a resident of the sector, explained that the bad smell was determinant in discovering the situation.

"When we smelled the stench and saw the flies, we knew something was wrong. Then we broke down the door and found the body," he recounted.

Meanwhile, Dawilson Díaz, the building owner, indicated that Franklin Hidalgo had been residing in the place for more than five years and described him as a calm person who did not cause conflicts. He pointed out that, preliminarily, the cause of death is presumed to have been a heart attack, although he clarified that this version must be confirmed by the competent authorities. Members of the National Police and the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) went to the scene, where they removed the body and began the corresponding investigations to officially establish the circumstances and cause of death.
