Santo Domingo.– The former president of the Republic and president of the Dominican Liberation Party, Danilo Medina, assured this Wednesday that during the administrations of the PLD, the population could improve their quality of life without the need to hold a position in the State, thanks —according to what he affirmed— to the economic and social policies implemented in that period.
The statements were made during a political swearing-in ceremony held in Elías Piña, where Medina maintained that the objective of a government should be to create opportunities for all citizens and not only for those who have a public appointment.
Danilo stated that during his eight years in office, nearly a million jobs were created as a result of economic growth, which allowed for the expansion of opportunities for thousands of Dominican families. He also highlighted social programs implemented during his governments, including the Extended School Day, through which students in the public system received breakfast, lunch, snacks, school supplies, and uniforms covered by the State."Life was better with the PLD, and to live better a nomination was not necessary," expressed the former president to leaders and supporters of the party.
The also president of the PLD pointed out that these initiatives represented significant economic relief for low-income families, especially those with several children within the public education system."When a child from a poor family went to school and entered the extended hours system, they received a subsidy from the Government," he stated.
