The British writer and television presenter, David Walliams, 54, was fired this Thursday from his literary publishing house, after facing accusations of inappropriate behavior and harassment against several women. Walliams' publisher, HarperCollins UK, stated today in a statement that, after "careful consideration" and under the leadership of its new CEO, Kate Elton, the company has decided "not to publish any new titles" by David Walliams. According to the British newspaper 'The Telegraph', the decision is due to an investigation by the same media outlet into Walliams' alleged inappropriate behavior with young women.

The writer, one of the UK's best-selling children's book authors, faced accusations of having "harassed" young female employees of HarperCollins. According to 'The Telegraph', one of the workers who recounted her situation with Walliams, "received a five-figure payment from the publisher and left the company". "At HarperCollins, we take the well-being of our employees very seriously and have processes in place to report and investigate concerns. To respect people's privacy, we do not comment on internal matters," the publisher indicated today, after the news was released. Walliams rose to fame over 20 years ago with the comedy series 'Little Britain' on the BBC and began writing children's books with HarperCollins in 2008, becoming a best-selling author, with over 40 children's stories and collections and sales of over 60 million copies. Walliams' television career, who served as a judge on the British version of 'Got Talent' between 2012 and 2022, was also tarnished after he made sexist comments about one of the female contestants on the show, which forced him to leave the show.
