Two men die of electrocution after electrical cable falls on their vehicle in Gaspar Hernandez

Espaillat. – Two people died instantly on Tuesday afternoon after being electrocuted, following the fall of an electrical cable on the vehicle in which they were traveling, in the community of El Jobo, in the municipality of Gaspar Hernández. According to preliminary information provided by the authorities, the cable suddenly collapsed and, upon making contact with the car, generated a high-voltage discharge that gave no chance of escape to the occupants, who died at the scene. One of the victims was identified as Ángel Junior Rodríguez Rodríguez, originally from Santiago, according to his identity card. The second deceased person has not yet been identified, because he was not carrying documents at the time of the incident. It transpired that both men were engaged in the purchase of metals and were touring different communities in the area when the tragedy occurred, which has caused consternation among residents and passers-by in the area.

So far, the authorities have not offered official details on the causes that led to the fall of the electrical cable, which has raised questions about the state of the wiring and the maintenance conditions of the electrical infrastructure in the area.

Members of emergency and investigation agencies carried out the removal of the bodies and initiated the corresponding investigations to determine possible responsibilities and establish if there was negligence in the handling of the electrical system.
