Eduardo León Jimenes Foundation celebrates 30 years of cultural legacy and commitment to a better nation

Santo Domingo.- The Eduardo León Jimenes Foundation commemorated its 30th anniversary this Tuesday with a Eucharist officiated by Father José Alberto Hidalgo in the Church and Convent of the Dominicans, in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo. The event brought together members of the León family, allies, collaborators, authorities, representatives from the cultural sector and the media, who joined to celebrate three decades of commitment to culture, education, literature, music and the environment.

Under the motto “The roots of the future”, María Amalia León, president of the Eduardo León Jimenes Foundation and the Centro León, offered some words in which she highlighted the spirit of gratitude and service that gave rise to the institution, created in 1995 by seven siblings inspired by a legacy of service inherited from the family.

"A service that is summarized not only in figures, but in actions and transformative spaces. Culture is a luminous way of loving and creating," he expressed, reaffirming the conviction —inspired by the thought of Pedro Henríquez Ureña— that "only in culture does man find his highest expression." With that vision, the León Jimenes Foundation renews its mission to continue sowing, together with Dominican society, the roots of a more just, conscious, and supportive future.

The celebration integrated music as a living expression of the cultural legacy promoted by the Foundation through the musical interpretations of Adalgisa Pantaleón, Niní Cáffaro, Antonia Chabebe, Juan Polanco and Inart and, at the end of the Eucharist, the guests were delighted with the performance of the Atempo Choir which, in collaboration with the Sinfonía Foundation, performed under the direction of Nadia Nicola. Following this, a commemorative toast was offered at Quinta Dominica and the exhibition "Out of Time" from the Centro León was presented, reaffirming the dialogue between contemporary art, memory, and social reflection. In addition, an audiovisual production was screened that collects the projects and initiatives promoted by the León Jimenes Foundation throughout these three decades of work. Both the liturgical celebration and the subsequent toast comprehensively reflected the axes that define the work of the León Jimenes Foundation: culture, arts, literature, music, and environmental care, present through symbolic, curatorial, and sensory elements, as in the case of the sound messages of Emisora Raíces through allusions to the gastronomy present during the event. Dominican identity was also manifested in the tastings and in the details that evoked the traditions and values of the country. During its three decades of work, the Eduardo León Jimenes Foundation, through its affiliated cultural institutions: the Centro León and the Raíces Broadcasting Station, has developed initiatives that engage with diverse audiences, promoting spaces for reflection and creation that strengthen national identity.
