The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, currently arrested by the U.S. since January 3rd after the military invasion of the Pentagon in Caracas, sent a message to his country and to the political leadership that has been left in charge due to his detention by orders of the American president, Donald Trump. "You are doing exactly what you have to do and you are taking the right steps," Maduro expressed to his son, deputy Nicolás Maduro Guerra, during a telephone conversation they recently had and which has been reported by the press local and disclosed on social media. "He told me amnesty not only for them, for us too," Maduro commented on the process underway in Venezuela for political prisoners.

Maduro's message was shared by the deputy during a public event in Caracas, where his son shared part of the conversation with the Venezuelan president, who is detained in a penitentiary center in New York, along with his wife, also a deputy Cilia Flores, since they were extracted from Venezuela during the armed attack by the US that left more than 100 dead. Maduro Guerra recounts that he received the call while in the Hemiciclo of the Federal Legislative Palace and upon hearing his father's voice, he confessed that he was surprised and that his "legs gave way". The Venezuelan leader also asked his son how the country was doing amid the US aggression. "He asked: How was everything, how is the homeland, how is the team?", detailed the parliamentarian, who reported that the acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, was in charge.

Faced with this, Maduro commented that his tranquility and that of Venezuela lies in "the unity of the people and unity with the high command", in addition to his government team and "the team of the homeland". "I fully trust the team and they have done what they have to do", expressed the head of state, quoted by the deputy.

Despite being kidnapped, the president was concerned about asking about the results of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League and which team won it. Maduro Guerra told him that the Navegantes del Magallanes were champions, the staunch enemy of the Leones de Caracas, which is the president's favorite team. Faced with this, Maduro said: "Damn, what a mess!" and both burst out laughing.
