Washington.- The U.S. Congressional committee investigating the deceased financier Jeffrey Epstein formally requested the testimony of Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, and Leon Black, co-founder of Apollo Global Management. Both billionaires were cited through letters sent by the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, with the aim of gathering relevant information for the investigation. "The Oversight Committee continues to seek the truth for survivors and all Americans," Comer wrote on his X account. The request is framed within the investigation into the activities and contacts of Epstein, who was convicted of sexual offenses and whose network of relationships has involved several prominent figures from the business and financial world. The committee seeks to clarify possible links and details about the interaction of Gates and Black with Epstein, as both appear in the files released about the deceased sex offender. The Statements

Lawmakers have emphasized the importance of obtaining transcribed interviews from those cited, which are in addition to six other people summoned to testify, as part of Congress's efforts to complete a broader picture of the operations and networks of the disgraced financier. A committee spokesperson reminded the local press that the investigation has also sought testimonies and documents related to high-profile political figures, including former First Lady and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton. His previous statements and activities associated with Epstein have been subject to public scrutiny, and lawmakers have sought to clarify any links through interviews and review of official records to better understand the extent of the relationships between Epstein and these leaders.
