AIRD demands compliance with standards for imported products and private labels

The Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) reiterated the importance of strengthening compliance with labeling and health registration regulations for all products marketed in the national market, regardless of their origin.

The guild pointed out that respect for current provisions, which require labeling to be in Spanish and contain the health registration issued by the corresponding authority, constitutes a fundamental guarantee for consumer protection and for the transparent and orderly functioning of the markets.

In that sense, the AIRD indicated that these regulations apply equally to all products that reach Dominican consumers, including those marketed under private label or white label schemes, so their compliance must be consistently observed by all market players, whether producers, importers or marketers.

"The key is to ensure that all products marketed in the country comply with the established standards. This not only protects the consumer, but also helps to avoid unfair competition conditions among those who participate in the market and share space on the shelves of the retail centers," said Mario Pujols, Executive Vice President of the guild.

The AIRD highlighted that the effective compliance with health and labeling regulations ensures that consumers receive clear information about the products they purchase, as well as ensuring adequate quality and safety standards.

The guild reiterated its willingness to continue collaborating with the competent authorities and with the different actors in the business sector to promote compliance with current regulations and strengthen a market environment based on clear rules, transparency, and respect for the consumer.
