DR receives 11 aircraft from the US in Fly In “Caribbean Air Rally” at Samaná airport

Each Fly In contributes to the dynamization of the economy of the provinces where they arrive, as it is a tourism of high purchasing power. Currently the country receives about 15 Fly In per year Samaná, DR. The Dominican Republic received about 11 aircraft with more than 20 passengers on board, at the Prof. Juan Bosch "El Catey" International Airport, as part of the celebration of the Fly In "Caribbean Air Rally".

The aircraft and its crew were received on the platform by the director of the Airport Department (DA), Víctor Pichardo, along with a delegation of officials from the institution, to welcome them to the national territory.

"We enthusiastically welcome Caribbean Air Rally 2026, in honor of the late general aviation promoter, Catherine Tobenas, who was always an ally of the Dominican Republic," said Pichardo after assessing the growth of private aviation in the country.

He highlighted that this recreational aeronautical initiative is part of the institutional efforts to promote non-commercial private aviation, with the support of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, "who approved the protocol for its promotion and strengthening, and that today we enjoy the results, such as the growth of this type of activities that promote the economy of each province where they arrive."

While Camil Dumont, president of Air Rally and coordinator of the visiting team, valued the reception from the authorities and highlighted the improvement that the country exhibits in general aviation, especially since 2020.

"Since 2020, the situation is changing for the better, and I think that's in the people," said Dupont, who indicated that they have been making trips to the Caribbean for twenty-four years, and will celebrate their 25th anniversary in the country, for being a strategic place to travel to other destinations.

The aircraft originally departed from Fort Lauderdale, south of the city of Florida, United States, to tour the Caribbean, starting their first stop in the Turks and Caicos Islands, where they stayed for three days, and then from the Dominican Republic, they will depart to Nevis, located in the Leeward Islands.
