DASAC develops extensive social and community work in several regions of the country

SANTO DOMINGO.– The Directorate of Social Assistance and Community Food (DASAC) carried out an extensive intervention day over the weekend that impacted communities in several provinces of the country, bringing direct solutions to families in vulnerable situations and to various social organizations.

The institution's general director, Edgar Augusto Félix Arbona, highlighted that these actions respond to the commitment of President Luis Abinader Corona's government to continue strengthening social assistance in favor of the most needy sectors. "We continue to work hard throughout the country, reaffirming the commitment to continue assisting families who can least afford it and need us, with the firm purpose of guaranteeing well-being and hope in every home," the official declared. The actions were carried out in the Cibao region, specifically in Santiago and Piedra Blanca, Bonao, where the roofing and improvement of the home of the low-income couple Leonardo de Jesús Rodríguez and Miguelina Veras Almonte was carried out, who also received household items for their home. In the case of Piedra Blanca, Bonao, DASAC also impacted members of the Fire Department with the delivery of belongings, thus strengthening their operational conditions. In the Eastern region, the institution carried out improvements to the facilities of the Hato Mayor Fire Department, in addition to delivering essential equipment and articles. Likewise, it carried out actions in San Rafael del Yuma, La Altagracia province. In the Southwest region, the institution carried out operations in the municipality of Paraíso, Barahona province, as well as in San Juan de la Maguana. In Paraíso, appliances, household goods, and food rations were delivered to families affected by a fire, in addition to providing assistance to the Fire Department of that demarcation. In San Juan de la Maguana, DASAC distributed household goods to the Casa Curial of the San Juan Bautista Cathedral and carried out an operation at the Provincial Government, where layettes and raw food kits were delivered to pregnant women from vulnerable communities. Edgar Augusto Félix Arbona specified that the institution he directs will continue to bring comprehensive solutions to families in every corner of the country and strengthening organizations that play an important role in society, such as fire departments.
