Man loses his life in tragic traffic accident on Jaya highway of SFM

San Francisco de Macorís. – A regrettable traffic accident that occurred on Sunday took the life of the young Ernesto José Fernández Then, a native of the Santa Ana sector, generating great sadness among family, friends, and acquaintances. The incident occurred as the young man was leaving the community of Jaya, under circumstances that have not yet been clarified by the authorities. After the impact, Fernández Then was transferred to the Dr. Ángel María Gatón regional hospital, where he died while receiving medical attention.

Preliminary indications suggest that the accident may have been caused by losing control of the vehicle on the road and impacting a cross or memorial erected on that stretch of the highway, where two young people had previously died last year.
