Dies young in traffic accident on the La Romana–San Pedro highway

La Romana, R.D. — A tragic traffic accident that occurred at the entrance to the Cucama sector, near the Coca-Cola facilities, in the municipality of Villa Hermosa, resulted in one young man dead and another injured. According to preliminary information provided by people who were in the vicinity of the place, two minors were traveling on a CG-type motorcycle to buy liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), when they were hit by a vehicle whose characteristics have not yet been identified. Units from the National Emergency and Security Attention System 9-1-1 went to the scene to provide assistance to those affected. However, despite the efforts of the emergency personnel, one of the young people died from injuries sustained in the accident.

The victim was identified only as Abel, a well-known and appreciated young man in the Cucama community. According to residents of the sector, less than a month ago he also suffered the loss of an eight-year-old cousin, who died by drowning in a lagoon in that same locality. Authorities are investigating the circumstances in which the event occurred to determine responsibilities.
