Children aged three will be able to enter public schools

Santo Domingo, RD.- The Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, announced this Wednesday that children from the age of three will be able to be admitted to public schools, which will imply an estimated 30% increase in enrollment at the initial level. The statements were offered during a meeting headed by President Luis Abinader at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education, at a time when complaints about lack of places in public schools are intensifying, a few weeks before the start of the new school year.

In recent weeks, parents and guardians from different parts of the country have expressed concern about the extensive waiting lists and the uncertainty about whether their children will be able to start classes on time. The situation has highlighted the structural challenges of the education system, especially with regard to the availability of classrooms and the completion of school buildings still under construction. The president's visit to the Ministry seeks to address this issue, so urgent measures are expected to be announced to expand educational coverage and guarantee access to education for all students.
