Santo Domingo.- The judges of the Second Collegiate Tribunal of the National District are not yet ready to enter to announce their decision on whether to convict or acquit Alexis Medina and the other defendants of alleged acts of corruption during the government of former President Danilo Medina.
Judges Clarivel Nivar, Clara Castillo, and Jisell Soto postponed the reading of the ruling that will determine the future of the more than 20 defendants to 5 p.m. this Wednesday; however, two hours have passed and they have not made an appearance.
In the courtroom, the defendants in the alleged corruption scheme and members of the press are waiting for the magistrates.
According to the file, Juan Alexis Medina Sánchez took advantage of his status as the brother of former President Danilo Medina to create a corporate network that benefited from works, goods, and services of the State through fraudulent maneuvers.
He is accused of crimes such as money laundering, embezzlement, illicit enrichment, influence peddling, and others, while the other defendants are charged with offenses such as criminal association, fraud against the State, and organized crime.
