Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader, declared the creation of the Botanical Garden of San Juan de la Maguana, of high public interest, through Decree No. 38-26, dated January 23, 2026, as part of the actions aimed at strengthening environmental conservation, ecological education, scientific research and sustainable development in the province of San Juan.
The provision establishes the formation of a Management Committee in charge of coordinating, articulating, and monitoring the actions necessary for the implementation of the Botanical Garden, ensuring transparency, institutional participation, and proper resource management.You may be interested in: http://Presidente Abinader encabeza graduación y juramentación de nuevos agentes del CESAC
Among the responsibilities of the Management Committee is the elaboration and approval of the preliminary Master Plan of the Botanical Garden within a maximum period of three months, as well as the coordination of the institutional formation process of the project. The public resources allocated to this initiative will be administered under the control, inspection and accountability mechanisms established in the current legal framework. Likewise, the Management Committee will be comprised of representatives from the Archbishopric of San Juan de la Maguana, which will preside over it, the Administrative Ministry of the Presidency, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the Civil Governorate of the Province of San Juan, the General Directorate of National Assets, the Santiago Botanical Garden Professor Eugenio de Jesús Marcano, the National Botanical Garden Doctor Rafael María Moscoso, the Cooperativa Central, Inc. (COOPCENTRAL), the ISA University, the Federico Henríquez y Carvajal University (UFHEC) and the Western Regional University Center of the UASD (CURO-UASD).
