Santo Domingo.– Amid the sustained increase in international oil prices caused by the war in Iran, President Luis Abinader urged Dominican companies this Sunday to adopt remote work as a key measure to reduce fuel consumption and alleviate economic pressure on the country.
During a message to the nation, the president highlighted that, although the country is in a position to face this external shock, it will be necessary to implement joint actions between the Government, the private sector and the citizenry. Abinader emphasized that telecommuting represents an effective alternative to decrease daily mobility, reduce the demand for fuels and, consequently, mitigate the impact of the rise in transportation costs. The head of state acknowledged that the global energy crisis, stemming from the conflict in Iranian territory, will generate pressures in sensitive sectors such as electricity, transportation, and food. However, he insisted that the Government will assume most of the effort to protect the population."Companies can adopt remote work schemes that allow for the optimization of resources and contribute to economic stability in this adverse international context," he said.
