This past Friday, May 22, the Canadian police, through the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), confirmed that the lifeless body of actor Stewart McLean, 45, had been found in the Lions Bay area, after several days missing. The last time the interpreter known for the series ‘A Place to Dream’ from Netflix was seen was at his home in British Columbia, last Friday, May 15; three days after his disappearance was reported.
Investigation opened for possible homicide
Thus, following the appearance of the lifeless body of Stewart McLean, the police have opened an investigation for possible murder. So much so that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) of Squamish has clarified that the case is now in the hands of the homicide team: "As the investigation progresses, homicide investigators are working to gather and analyze evidence, review security camera recordings, and conduct interviews to develop a timeline of Mr. McLean's activities prior to May 15, 2026," it is clarified in the official statement. In addition, the message also adds: "We are investigating all available leads as we work to find answers for Mr. McLean's family, friends, and loved ones," adding that his disappearance is considered an "isolated incident." Reactions from Stewart McLean's colleagues have been swift: We recommend reading: “I was lucky enough to work with Stew for over 10 years,” his agent Jodi Caplan wrote. “It was always a pleasure to deal with him: dedicated, professional, enthusiastic, and endlessly fun.” For their part, several series directors with whom he had worked contacted the actor's family to pay their respects, assuring that he was a “wonderful” person and that everyone would “miss him.”At the moment, Canadian authorities have not confirmed whether there are suspects in the possible "violent homicide" of Stewart McLean or the possible causes of his disappearance and death. For now, the case remains under seal so as not to hinder the investigation, while the IHIT has asked for citizen collaboration so that anyone who has relevant information about the case can shed some light.
Stewart McLean has been a regular actor in series such as ‘Virgin River’, ‘Arrow’, ‘Murder in a Small Town’ or ‘Travelers’, among many others. Rest in peace.
