Guatemala. – Combined forces of the National Civil Police and the Guatemalan Army carried out operations in different regions of the country, where they managed to locate and eradicate several illicit coca crops, in an effort to stop drug production on national territory.
According to official reports, the plantations were detected in areas of difficult access, mainly in rural and mountainous areas, considered strategic by organizations dedicated to drug trafficking. During the interventions, the agents proceeded to destroy thousands of coca plants, used for the elaboration of illicit substances.
Authorities pointed out that these operations are part of a comprehensive strategy to combat drug trafficking and reduce the impact of these activities on the affected communities. They also indicated that they will continue to intensify intelligence and patrol efforts in vulnerable regions.
