Bonao.– The Senate of the Republic unanimously approved a resolution project submitted by the senator of Monseñor Nouel province, Héctor Acosta, through which it is established that the National Congress will hold a special session in the city of Bonao on September 22, 2026.
The initiative was presented to the Senate plenary on Tuesday, March 11, and received the support of the 24 legislators present at the session. With this resolution, the aim is for the National Congress to meet outside its usual headquarters and to get closer to the communities. The date chosen for this special session coincides with the 44th anniversary of Bonao being declared a province, giving rise to the current Monseñor Nouel province, a historical event that marked the political and administrative development of the demarcation. According to Senator Héctor Acosta, this initiative aims to strengthen the links between the Legislative Branch and the citizenry, allowing the population to get a closer look at the functioning of Congress and participate in commemorative activities of great significance for the province. We recommend reading: During the special legislative session, the participation of senators, deputies, local authorities, as well as historians from the region is expected, who will highlight the historical and cultural importance of the Monseñor Nouel province. The session of the National Congress in Bonao will be part of the activities scheduled to commemorate the anniversary of the elevation of this demarcation to the category of province, a fact that continues to be a source of pride for its inhabitants.
