Punta Cana.- CONSTRUEXPO 2026 officially inaugurated its 18th edition at the Convention Center of Blue Mall Punta Cana, in a context where the Eastern region is consolidating as one of the main poles of real estate, tourism, and urban development investment in the Caribbean.
The official opening was led by the Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED), Víctor -Ito- Bisonó, who presented a series of measures aimed at streamlining and modernizing the permitting processes, historically considered one of the main challenges for the advancement of real estate and infrastructure projects in the country.
“
We identify a very clear priority: permitting. Because there, two fundamental elements connect: the safety of what is built and the trust that investment needs to keep moving forward,” expressed Bisonó.
Among the announcements made is a new stage of the Single Window for Construction, now oriented towards a more integrated, modern and transparent platform, along with the implementation of the NORM system, designed to standardize the technical criteria for evaluating files.
Likewise, it revealed that during the first four months of 2026, the licenses issued increased by 93%, going from 380 to 665 approvals compared to the same period of the previous year, representing investments exceeding RD$230.544 million.
Bisonó also announced the creation of the Alliance for the Promotion of the Construction Sector, driven together with the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) and other business associations, as a space for public-private articulation focused on strengthening productive chains, promoting joint solutions and accelerating the sustainable growth of the industry.
The fair, organized by José Veras & Associates, brings together more than 48 exhibiting companies, 16 international firms and business representation from Italy, Spain, Panama, Ecuador, Colombia and the United States from May 21 to 23, strengthening its position as
one of the main spaces for articulation and business in the industry in the Dominican Republic.
The technical agenda includes specialized conferences on modular construction, cost control, sustainability and urban resilience, along with exhibitions of heavy machinery, automation, structural engineering and applied technologies.
The event will remain open to the public and professionals in the area from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, concluding on Saturday, May 23rd with the official closing and awards ceremony.
With 36 years of experience, CONSTRUEXPO reflects the evolution of an industry that is moving towards more efficient, industrialized and sustainable models, aligned with the global dynamics that are transforming urban growth and infrastructure in the Caribbean today.
