Deputies pass bill for RD Alerts for the search of missing persons into law

Santo Domingo. The Chamber of Deputies approved this Wednesday the modifications introduced by the Senate to the bill that creates the National Alert for the Search of Missing Persons in the Dominican Republic (Alerts RD), leaving the initiative ready for its promulgation by the Executive Branch. The new legislation aims to establish an immediate response mechanism at the national level for the location, assistance, and protection of people reported as missing, strengthening coordination between authorities and citizens in these cases. The project contemplates the creation of different types of alerts according to the characteristics of the missing person. These include the Amber Alert, aimed at the search for children and adolescents; the Silver Alert, for older adults; the Blue Alert, focused on people with disabilities; and the Pink Alert, aimed at missing women in contexts of violence or human trafficking.

During the legislative session, the deputies also approved several resolutions through which they request the Government to execute works and services in different provinces of the country. Among these initiatives are the habilitation and installation of Comprehensive Early Childhood Care Centers (CAIPI) in communities of Santiago and Espaillat, as well as the commissioning of a vocational school in the municipal district of Quita Sueño, in San Cristóbal.

Likewise, lawmakers supported requests for the construction of an electrical substation in Villa Hermosa, La Romana; the installation of a Promipyme office in San Rafael del Yuma, La Altagracia; an extension of the Santo Domingo Metro line to Pedro Brand, La Guáyiga and Villa Altagracia; and the reconstruction of the sanitary sewer system of the municipality of Barahona. At the end of the day, the Chamber of Deputies convened a joint session of the National Assembly for June 2nd, in which it will receive the official visit of the constitutional president of Jennifer Geerlings-Simons. In addition, the legislators were summoned for a new ordinary session of the plenary on June 3rd.
